This summer, SIA Unitruck organized an event – a timber truck meeting “King of the Forest 2025”, where the most colorful and noticeable timber truck of the year was determined by the audience and jury. During the event, visitors could get a closer look at the products and solutions of the brands Kesla, Närko, Pezzolato, JW-Tec and Reacton represented by Unitruck.
Timber truck owners from SIA “Lielauto Sērene” showed particular interest, their attention was attracted by the new 2025 KESLA 2209ST timber crane with a Premium cabin. After consulting with Unitruck specialists, the client was convinced that this particular model would be the most suitable for his needs.
From idea to new timber crane
Shortly after the event, the client arrived at Unitruck service in Cēsis to discuss the assembly and purchase options. Our team helped choose the most suitable financing model, and the order, additional work, and the installation time of the manipulator were agreed upon.
Client`s needs were:
- air conditioner installation;
- cabin heating from truck;
- conversion of the hydraulic system from a single-flow to a Load sensitive (LS) system;
- hydraulic oil cooler;
The process
The project began with the installation of the air conditioning unit. After the customer took the truck in for service, the Unitruck team filmed the old manipulator in action so that it could be easily offered for sale. The timber truck was fully washed and prepared for dismantling. While removing the old timber crane and timber bunks, the mechanics found that the damaged and loose superstructure bolts also needed to be replaced to ensure a secure attachment to the Scania chassis.
Over the next two weeks, the following was accomplished:
- hydraulic system conversion to LS system;
- hydraulic pump replacement;
- installation of a hydraulic oil cooler;
- connecting and adjusting the new KESLA manipulator according to factory settings;
- trailer maintenance and several small additional tasks that gave the timber carrier a “second wind”.
Results
Exactly 10 working days after the timber truck was handed over to the service, the customer was able to get behind the wheel of his truck and try out the new timber crane in action. Unitruck mechanics provided:
- instruction on how to use the timber crane;
- reminder about the free first 50h maintenance;
- the opportunity to practically test the new timber crane at work by moving logs at the Unitruck site.
👉As a result, the customer was handed over a fully equipped and customized timber truck, ready for daily work in the forest.
